Spring is finally here, although you wouldn’t know it by the dreary day we had. To celebrate I decided on a pastel..with a twist. I bought Sinful Color’s Zeus a while ago and haven’t had the chance to try it. It’s a pretty, dusty purple with pink shimmer. I did two coats of Gelous and then two coats of Zeus. I thought I’d give my dotting tools another go, this time with OPI’s Yoga-Get-This-Blue.
On one of my trips to Ulta I picked up Orly’s Rococo-a-go-go. It’s mostly a purple micro glitter polish, but with gold and pink shimmer. I started with two coats of Gelous…which is where my first product rave comes in. I heard good and bad about this base coat, but I figured I’d try it anyway. Its great, I had no problems with drying time like a lot of reviews said. I was a bit worried because some people were saying it took 10 minutes to dry, but it dried within a few minutes, if that.
Now, on to Orly’s Rocco-a-go-go. I only needed two coats, I could have used one, but I can’t help myself. I definitely think this is my new favorite! Orly’s formula is great! More of their colors will definitely be joining my collection! Now, bare with me, I took a lot of photos and this polish has so many colors in it.
I used two types of lighting, florescent lights and a CFL light. The ones with the color a bit more maroon and gold is the CFL and the purple and pink pictures are with the florescent lights. Love it!
On a trip to Sally’s yesterday I picked up two lotions. Proclaim Olive oil lotion and Original’s Cleansing Sugar Glow. Both really great. Proclaim’s lotion really soaks in and leaves my hands soft for the whole day! Original’s Cleansing Sugar Glow exfoliates great and leaves my hands and arms smooth.
It seems that since I’ve learned the “foil method” for removing the glitter polishes I can’t get enough! I’ve been doing a lot of sparkle and glitter polishes and while they are fun and gorgeous my favorite type of polish is creme. Its been hard to ignore the 18 Kleancolor polishes I bought, but after not so great results and then just okay results I’ve been avoiding them. But I’ve come to the conclusion that I can not judge these as a whole. Each color seems to behave differently. Even the pastel pink and pastel yellow acted differently. I figured, one collection/finish – one formula, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
I’ve been doing a lot of dark mani’s lately so I decided to switch it up a bit. Plus with all this insanely warm weather we’ve been having lately I’ve been in the mood for Spring! Although, go figure today is cold and rainy. A few weeks ago when the Kleancolor polishes arrived I was so excited to see this pastel yellow. The only other yellow I have is Sally Hansen’s Lightning, which is a bright yellow – at least on my skin tone.
I started out with three coats of Kleancolor’s Pastel Yellow (they need to work on their names. Where’s the in between Spoiled’s crazy names and Kleancolor’s boring ones.) I made sure I waited a little bit to add the other coats (I was stepping on eggshells, really wanting this to work out). I added one layer of Essie’s To Dry For – just in case.
I then used Konad’s special Pastel Purple stamping polish and Bundle Monster’s plate BM11. When I first got these plates I noticed this particular design was on two different plates. But then I noticed that they seem to be different sizes, a small amount, but still different enough. I finished it off with two coats of Essie’s TDF.
My Red Angel plates and dotting tools have arrived! Can’t wait to play with them!
I took a trip to Ulta this morning for my refill of Essie’s To Dry For. Since I’ve been buying new polish like crazy (picked up Revlon’s Popular yesterday) I knew I couldn’t get another new polish at Ulta so instead I picked up 2 Sally Hansen’s Clear polish for DIY Nail color so I could use my coupon. I decided to use two of my Bare Mineral’s eyeshadows that I kinda forgot about. Cherry Coco Truffle is a brown with tiny pink sparkles in it and Berry Flambe is a purple with gold, blue and purple sparkles.
I like to use old scrapbook paper to make a funnel, its thick and easy to use since it is already a square.
I like the Bare Mineral’s because it’s powdery and if you use regular eyeshadow it needs to be ground up. I used the opposite end of a thin paint brush when I used an Almay shadow.
I’m pretty excited about these colors, I haven’t done a mani yet with them, I’ll probably do them tonight, but here is the final result! What would a nail polish be without a silly name, so here is Purple Moonlight
I’ve been getting so many new polishes, its hard to keep up! For today’s manicure I decided to go with Spoiled by Wet n’ Wild The Parking Meteor Expired…bit of a long-winded name. lol. It’s a black based polish with blue, green and purple shimmer built-in.
I love this color! I did about 2 coats, but it could be a one-coater. Instead of a stamped mani I decided to do a coat of Spoiled’s Jewelry Heist over it.
I added another polish to my collection on Friday, Sinful Color’s Nail Junkie…perfect name!
It’s a blue sparkle jelly polish with green, gold, blue sparkles. Here it is in the bottle, can’t wait to try it out!
I apologize for not posting a new mani last night, but my husband and I had an awesome night out. A local Italian restaurant had a handmade ravioli and wine paring demonstration, it was sooo much fun. Anyway for tonight’s manicure I decided to finally use Wet N’ Wild’s Greys Anatomy. I tried it on one nail when I first bought it but never used it completely. Its a purpley silver with green tones, beautiful in the bottle but so sheer on its own so I put 3 coats over Sinful Color’s Black on Black. Then I used Konad’s plate m69 and Sally Hansen’s Celeb City for the stamping. It was the first time I used it for stamping and I’m very happy with the results! I finished it off with my usual two coats of Essie’s To Dry For.
