Black and Pink Zebra Print

8 Mar

As much fun as subtle stamping mani’s are, I’ve come to the conclusion my favorite are the obnoxious ones. lol. I started with alternating Sinful Color’s Black on Black and Sinful Color’s Feeling Great on each finger. On the black nails I stamped a white zebra print using Konad’s special polish and on the pink I used Konad’s special black polish. Fun and obnoxious!

Spoiled…Again

27 Feb

I haven’t been able to ignore the Spoiled displays at CVS. As soon as I saw Shrimp on the Barbie I had to have it! Its a pink, almost coral with gold shimmer. It was pretty sheer and I ended up using 4 coats, I did test it on top of black, I liked it, but it wasn’t the look I wanted. I could have also layered it over white…but I didn’t lol.

This will be a really fun color for summer. Although, it looked a tiny bit strange on my skin tone.

It’s such a pretty color on its own, it’s also a bit busy with the shimmer and the glitter look I didn’t wait to stamp over it.

Chocolate Strawberry & Popular

19 Feb

Here is a swatch of my DIY Chocolate Strawberry nail color I make this morning. Unfortunately, this picture doesn’t show the pink shimmer in it.

I tried Revlon’s Popular..Love it! I ended up doing 4 coats, but it covered in 3. I finished it off with a coat of Essie’s To Dry For.

Popular is my first Revlon polish, the formula is great and it dried quickly, even with four coats.

More DIY Nail Color

19 Feb

I took a trip to Ulta this morning for my refill of Essie’s To Dry For. Since I’ve been buying new polish like crazy (picked up Revlon’s Popular yesterday) I knew I couldn’t get another new polish at Ulta so instead I picked up 2 Sally Hansen’s Clear polish for DIY Nail color so I could use my coupon.  I decided to use two of my Bare Mineral’s eyeshadows that I kinda forgot about. Cherry Coco Truffle is a brown with tiny pink sparkles in it and Berry Flambe is a purple with gold, blue and purple sparkles.

I like to use old scrapbook paper to make a funnel, its thick and easy to use since it is already a square.

I like the Bare Mineral’s because it’s powdery and if you use regular eyeshadow it needs to be ground up. I used the opposite end of a thin paint brush when I used an Almay shadow.

I’m pretty excited about these colors, I haven’t done a mani yet with them, I’ll probably do them tonight, but here is the final result! What would a nail polish be without a silly name, so here is Purple Moonlight

And here is Chocolate Strawberry.

Nail Polish Delivery

11 Feb

I came home yesterday to a package on my stoop….it was the 18 Kleancolor polishes I ordered last week. Yay.

They were all individually wrapped..which was a lot of fun to open each one! They ended up sending two wrong polishes, but thats okay, I decided to keep them anyway. After they were all unwrapped I took a blank nail wheel and filled it up.

I had a bit of a mani fail this morning. Maybe I should have slept an hour later lol.  At first I started off with two coats of Kleancolor’s Pastel Pink such a pretty color, Sinful Color’s Beautful Girl looks peach next to it, it was a lot thicker then I thought it would be and was taking forever to dry.

I nicked it a few times so I decided to take it off. I figured since it was thick it would be perfect for stamping. So I tried another new color from my order for my base, Kleancolor’s Metallic Fuchsia. Wow! What a color! And the formula is great! I only needed one coat, but I can’t help myself and I ended up doing two.

(my camera had a hard time capturing the color and my skin tone correctly, I tried my best to color correct it in photoshop)

Then I used Konad’s plate M69. The Pastel Pink worked great for stamping! Then I put Essie’s To Dry For on top….oops….there goes my pastel pink stamp…it turned into purple, so now it looks like a faint texture…boo.

Booo. Can barely even see it! Oh well, It’s not like it’ll stay on long anyway. lol.  To make things even worse, I dropped my Sally Hansen Green Tea Cuticle oil and it broke…double boo.

Wishing For Summer

6 Feb

I’m quite excited about the manicure I did tonight. It was one of the more time consuming ones, but I still love it! I started with two coats of Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl, such a pretty cream light pink.

(Unfortunately, I had to use my point and shoot for this picture and it had some issues with color.)

Then I used a makeup sponge to achieve the gradient look using Sally Hansen’s Rose Rush for the middle, then using the sponge again I used Milani’s Cherry Pie for the tip.

I sealed that off with a coat of Essie’s To Dry For. I love this look on its own, but since I had a Konadless mani yesterday I couldn’t help it. I used Konad’s Special White polish and plate m63.

I finished it off with 2 coats of To Dry For…okay maybe it was three, I can’t help it! Another fun Valentine’s Day look.

One last summer mani

11 Sep

Summer is coming to a close, so I wanted to do one last crazy colored Mani. I saw a picture of a neon rainbow with a Konad stamp on top. I instantly wanted to try it. I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors – Snow me White; so I’d get the brightest colors possible with the least amount of coats. I picked 5 colors. I started with a bright purple: Sinful Colors – Dream On, then went to a neon pink: Sinful Colors – Cream Pink. Then I used Sally Hansen – Lightening for the yellow, the green was Sally Hansen – Spring Green, the blue is Sinful Colors – Savage (one of my favorites – it reminds me of M&Ms). I did a thin horizontal line of each color. Both the Savage and Dream on from Sinful Colors has a matte-ish finish so I put one coat of Sally Hansen’s Ultimate Shield. For the Konad I chose plate M63 (which has turned into my favorite plate.) Instead of the special stamping polish I used Sinful Colors Black on Black. I noticed that the Konad’s Black is extremely difficult to clean up, and have read in several places that Sinful Colors works better, and I’d have to agree. I finished it up with another coat of Ultimate Shield and then 2 coats of Essie’s To Die For…which reminds me I think a trip to Ulta is in my future…there isn’t much left in the bottle.
